IMPORTANT NOTE FOR GIF SUPPORT

Gnuplot requires the gd library from http://www.boutell.com/gd/ to
create gif output. Note that the use of this code may subject your
organisation to a charge of willful patent infringement (as stated
by UNISYS) unless you are in possession of a UNISYS license.
The UNISYS patent covers the LZW technology which is used to create
gifs. To our knowledge, only gd library version 1.3 and 1.4 are free
of LZW code and should therefore be used with gnuplot (unless you have
a license from Unisys to use LZW code, in which case version 1.2 and 1.5
is fine, too). The binaries provided here have been built with version
1.3. Version 1.6+ cannot be used because support for GIF has been
removed altogether.
However, gnuplot can use gd library 1.6+ to generate png and jpeg images.

Win32 version compiled by MingW with PNG and TrueType support. Contains
wgnuplot executables with and without unixish pipes support, and pgnuplot
for stdin piping from external programs. Contributed by Petr Mikulik.

Win32 version for Cygwin and an X-server with PNG and TrueType support.
True console application with X11 terminal, not with Windows terminal.

2rd party graphics libraries required to build gif and png support
into gnuplot.
The latest version of the png library is available from

The latest version of the z library is available from

gd library is available from http://www.boutell.com/gd/. The two
versions here are free of Unisys patented code and create gif
images. The currently available version from www.boutell.com does
NOT create gifs.

Other platforms
===============
A binary distribution for Amiga (m68k) will shortly be available
on Aminet <URL:http://ftp.wustl.edu/~aminet/>. The status of the
Macintosh version is unknown at this time.
