Here you find Daniel Taupin's MusiXTeX a TeX-based system to typeset music.
MusiXTeX is a successor of MusicTeX which is a successor of MuTeX.
The package consists of five parts; only the first is needed for most systems.
- the TeX-macros, -font descriptions, font-definitions and the documentation
as zip-file musixtex.zip or as compressed tar-file musixtex-nnn.tar.gz
if nnn is the version number e.g. musixtex-T80.tar.gz
Older versions are available too as zip-files named musixtex.nnn.
Zip-files containing only the differences between older versions are named
musixtex.iii-nnn.zip (for the step from version iii to version nnn).
Because some people don't bother about bandwidth and simply use "mget *"
I've moved older versions to the directory older-versions and diff-files
to the directory diff-files. I hope that it is not neccessary to put zip-
and tar-files into different directories to make it not so easy to fetch
more than one needs.
If you want to use these diff-files you may have to rename them either
when ftp'ing them or when unzip'ing them. The diff-files do not contain
the dvi-file of the documention, because this may be produced by yourself
from the source musixdoc.tex, which is contained if it has been changed.
- the compiled documentation either as file ready for HP-Laserjet-printers
in musixdoc_lj.zip or as compressed Postscript-file in musixdoc.ps.gz
- the file musixflx.zip which contains compiled versions of a C-programme,
which is needed to run MusiXTeX, for a lot of different systems. Esp.
Mac-users may need this file. The DOS-exe is already contained in
musixtex.zip, Unix-users are used to compile C-programmes.
- some examples, compositions and arrangements by Daniel Taupin named either
musixexa.zip or musixexa-nnn.tar.gz
Version handling and diff-files follow the same rules as for musixtex.zip
- the files musix300.zip, musix360.zip, or musix600.zip which contain the
fonts for MusiXTeX with 300, 360 or 600 dpi. One of these are needed
only for TeX-systems which do not generated the fonts on the fly. These
files as compressed tar-files are named e.g. musix300-T80.tar.gz
There is a mailing-list for discussions about MusiXTeX, MusicTeX (and MuTeX).
To subscribe this list send a mail to mutex-request@gmd.de containing the
word subscribe in the body of the mail. For more information have a look
at http://www.gmd.de/Mail/ where you find the archive of the list, too.
The directory software - only at http://www.gmd.de/Misc/Music/ - points at
some additional software on top of MusiXTeX like PMX, abc2mtex or midi2tex.
The base material (the zip-files) is copied from Daniel Taupins ftp-server
at ftp://hprib.lps.u-psud.fr/ . The tar- and diff-files are generated by me.
